EASY DIY POLYGEL NAIL MANICURE FROM HOME

Like so many of you , COVID-19 has effected my day to day life in many ways. The nail salons were one of the many businesses forced to shut down due to the pandemic. I started doing my own nails before Covid, but due to the mandatory quarantine, I certainly have not had a choice. Over the last year we have had, overall, the least of my worries have been beauty concerns. But, as I shared in my last post "How To Style A Comfortable & Affordable Outfit For The Holidays", feeling good on the outside can help you feel better on the inside.

This post is about how to do an easy DIY polygon nail manicure from home.

I typically will do a gel manicure from home, but recently most of my nails broke off, so I had to cut them all down. My nail beds are quite short, so I don't always love the look of short nails on me. I try to have the grown out at least a little bit. I especially wanted to have longer nails for the Holiday, so I tried Polygel Nails to give me some length. And, its pretty easy!

If you don't mind a little DIY, then I would definitely recommend trying out this budget friendly manicure.

HOW TO DO EASY DIY POLYGEL NAILS FROM HOME

List of Steps:

Step 1: CUT AND FILE NAILS

Clip your nails down to the desired length and file around the nails for smooth edges.

Step 2: CUT CUTICLES

Apply a cuticle solution to your cuticles and allow it to sit for a few minutes. You can also soak your cuticles in warm water prior to this step to soften your cuticles even more. The solution will help make your cuticles soft and make them easier to cut.

Push back your cuticles.

Carefully use the cuticle cutter to remove the dead cuticles form around your nails.

Step 3: PREP AND BUFF TOP OF NAILS

Prep your nails by buffing the top of them to create a textured base for ploygel to lay on.

Step 4: LAY BASE COAT

Apply your base coat to each nail and cure your nails for 45-60 seconds.

Step 5: APPLY POLYGEL ON DUAL FORM & eXTEND TO DESIRED LENGTH

Apply a small amount of polygel to the dual form provided. Using the spatula provided in the polygel kit, extend the polygel along to the end of the dual form to your desired length. Finally, place the dual form (now with the polygel evenly spread- on your nail bed.

Step 6: ADD MORE POLYGEL USING NAIL POLISH REMOVER FOR SLIP

Add more polygel to build up the polygel on the dual form by adding more polygel for your desired thickness.

Use nail polish remover or alcohol (suggested) for slip. The polygel is sticky, so a slip is definitely recommend!

Step 7: CURE NAILS FOR 45-60 SECONDS

Cure nails for 45-60 seconds.

Step 8: PEEL DUAL FORM OFF

After curing, separate dual form from the polygel by peeling it off your nail.

Step 9: CUT & SHAPE NAIL TO DESIRED LENGTH

Cut and shape your nail to your desired length.

Step 10: BUFF TOP OF POLYGEL

Buff the top of your nails to create a textured base.

Step 11: APPLY BASECOAT TO POLYGEL & CURE

Apply a thin layer of base boat to the top of your nails & cure for 45-60 seconds.

Step 12: POLISH & CURE

Polish your nails with 2 coats of your desired color and cure for 46-60 seconds.

I used OPI Gel Color Big Apple Red.

Step 13: TOP COAT & CURE

Apply a thin coat of your 'no dry" top coat and cure for 60 seconds.

Step 14: REMOVE RESIDUE & MESSAGE OIL ON CUTICLES

Apply alcohol/nail polish remover to top of nails to get rid of residue.

Message oil on your cuticles and moisturize your hands for a salon finish.
